Best Director – Richard Purro

Best Comedy for 2014 – Pilgrim Productions – Harvey

Congratulations and big thanks to the winners.  We are fortunate to work with such talented people.

Touring play to the Churches

We have chosen the David Campton play, Us and Them for our touring play this year.  The play deals with the way building divisions between people leads to suspicion, mistrust and even ultimate destruction.  This is a timely message at any time but particularly at this time we think.  The play is fast moving, amusing in places and calls for imaginative characterization.   There are nine characters in the play of varying ages.

The play will tour Auckland churches every Sunday in July.  Rehearsals will be at times to suit the cast during May and June.

Actors wanted!  If you have always wanted to act in a play but never had the opportunity, now is your chance.  Our Touring Play Director, Marie Goudge is interested in talking with anyone wanting to be in Us and Them.  No acting experience is necessary, just enthusiasm for theatre and for working with a team.

If you are interested, please phone Marie on 835 1890 as soon as possible.   We will be holding a read through of the play at the end of April before choosing the cast.  Why not give it a go yourself, or share this news with any friends you think may be interested?

REMINDER !!!     Auditions for Main Production

We will be performing Scrubbers in August this year.  Our Director, Gwyneth Glover is enjoying collaborating with Robyn Kennerley on the music.

Written by Cenarth Fox, this play with music is the story of five fabulous females who work as cleaners at night in a large office complex.  Each woman has a story to tell; a sad story.  But one woman has hopes for a better life away from scrubbing floors. Her dreams affect the others to the extent that their lives are changed dramatically and forever.

We will be seeking the following characters on Sunday 3 May at 2pm at Theatre Pitt, 78 Pitt Street, City.

Chrissie    -        Young, about 20, uneducated, victim, fantastic cook, good mover/dancer

Dee            -        30s, artistic, independent, strong-willed, singer/songwriter, the unelected,  unofficial leader of the group.  Guitar player

Helly            -        25-40, foreigner to the country of the play, intelligent and quiet

Mo              -        50-80, rough diamond, heart of gold, joke-cracking, surrogate mother to  the others and working class heroine

Liz              -        30-50, secretive, quiet, educated and intelligent

Please arrive at 2pm and bring a simple song to sing.  16 bars will be sufficient.
