Winter is upon us but we wish you a warm hello from all of us at Pilgrim!    Read on to discover all the latest news from us.  We are very busy with lots of exciting things happening!

TOURING  PLAY  TO  THE  CHURCHES


By popular demand, our fantasy about scripture and science, Supernova Summit written by David Hines, is on tour again this year to the following churches:
 
Sun 7 August 10am                      Trinity Methodist Church, Waiake
Sun 14 August 9.30am                  The Life Church, Greenlane
Sun 21 August    10am                  St Aidan’s Presbyterian Church, Northcote
Sun 28 August    9.30am & 2pm      St John’s and Melville Methodist Churches, Hamilton

We have had very appreciative comments on the performances so far.  Directed by Tara Solomon, the actors are Rob Turvey, Kerry Thornton, Chris Harrison and Marion Hines.

celeste oA fantastic cast is busy rehearsing under the able direction of Merrin Cavel (Director) and Celeste Oram (Musical Director).  See picture on this page of Celeste in action at rehearsal!
We are delighted to have secured the talent of Daphne Abbott as Costume designer and sewers are busy getting the wardrobe ready.There is still time for you or any of your friends to join in the fun of this great show.  We need volunteers in the following areas:  Sewing costumes, set construction, stage crew, dressers, ushers, interval refreshments.   All helpers are entitled to concession tickets.  If you can help in any area please phone Marion Hines 376 6583.Enclosed are flyers for you to share with friends.  Some fundraising block bookings have already been made, and members should note that Friday 28 October is sold out.
Bookings open to general public on 1 September.There is a large concession available for block bookings so why not decide now to make up a party for one of the performances.

If you are a paid up member of Pilgrim you will receive your member’s concession voucher for the show with this newsletter.    It is not too late to pay your subscription for this year and receive a voucher.  Just send $15 (single) or $25 (couple) to

MAGENTA THEATRE COMPANY


Magenta Theatre Company, is another Christian theatre company associated with Pilgrim and it’s working on a new play based on the story of the Prodigal Son.  The idea started with a dream by Magenta’s leader Carolyn Flint. David Hines wrote a script, and his dream and hers are slowly growing into something that will help the prodigal sons and daughters in our churches today.   Actors wanted.  Phone the director, Carolyn Flint Ph 629 6707.
